Het Californische familiebedrijf Talley Vineyards bestaat al sinds 1986. Het bevindt zich in de Arroyo Grande Valley in de regio Central Coast. Hun wijngaarden profiteren van de koele windinvloed vanaf de Stille Oceaan. Talley staat dan ook bekend om z’n stijlvolle, verfijnde en gebalanceerde Chardonnays en Pinot Noirs.

Als het om Pinot gaat, zijn de Talleys echte pioniers: ze waren in 1982 de eerste om pinot noir aan te planten in de Arroyo Grande Valley. Hun grote inspiratie zijn de wijnen uit de Bourgogne. Het domein maakt naar eigen zeggen dan ook ‘een bourgondische stijl met Californische invloed’.

De Estate Pinot Noir is Talleys rode visitekaartje. Dankzij het relatief koele klimaat in San Luis Obispo Coast, kunnen de druiven langzaam en geleidelijk rijpen. Dit zorgt voor aromatische wijnen met frisse zuren. Na de vergisting rijpt de wijn voor dertien maanden in vaten van Frans eiken, waarvan 30% nieuw.

Aldus is de Estate Pinot verfijnd en levendig, met rijp fruit en een fraaie, subtiele eikeninvloed. Hij smaakt verleidelijk naar frambozen, kersen, peper en ceder en heeft een aanhoudende afdronk. Drink deze mooie wijn op zichzelf, of in combinatie met smaakvolle groente- of gevogelte-gerechten.

Proefnotitie

Licht robijnrode wijn met een gelaagde geur van kers, framboos, sinaasappelschil en subtiel eiken. De smaak is mild en heerlijk sappig met rijp rood fruit, evenwichtige frisheid en fijne, zijdezachte tannines. Complexe finale met nuances van peper en kaneel.

Drinken bij

Prachtige, delicate rode wijn om zo te drinken of bij verfijnde gerechten. Mooi bij gebraden kip met aardappels en bietjessalade, pittig sukadevlees of spaghetti met paddenstoelen, rucola en olijven.

Houdbaarheid

Op z’n mooist tussen 2 en 10 jaar na oogstdatum.
