De eerst aangekochte wijngaarden van Terre Nere waren beplant met zo'n 5% verschillende lokale witte druivenrassen. Van oudsher werden deze in de rode wijn verwerkt. Marco hield ze apart en maakte er als een van de eersten een witte wijn van, met veel succes. De druiven (carricante, catarratto, grecanico, inzolia en minella) stonden zoals in andere oude wijngaarden door elkaar heen en werden gelijktijdig geoogst. De Etna Bianco was geboren.

Inmiddels is witte wijn van de Etna – dankzij visionaire wijnmakers als Marco – bijzonder populair en als gevolg is de aanplant van witte druiven toegenomen. Vandaag de dag maakt Marco zijn befaamde Etna Bianco van carricante (70%), catarratto, grecanico en inzolia, die hij oogst in verschillende wijngaarden, van stokken van vijf tot maar liefst tachtig jaar oud. 

Dat levert een bijzondere en complexe witte wijn op, die nog goed kan rijpen in de fles ook. Hij heeft een verfijnd aroma van appel, meloen en lichte botertonen. De smaak is vol, sappig en droog, met een opwekkende frisheid. Bijzondere, ingetogen klasse met een enorme lengte.

Proefnotitie

Fraaie droge witte wijn met een verfijnd aroma van appel, meloen en lichte botertonen. De smaak is vol, zacht en rond van inzet en eindigt aromatisch en mild in de afdronk.

Drinken bij

Mooie begeleider van verfijnde visgerechten of risotto.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf één jaar na de oogst, gemakkelijk drie tot vier jaar houdbaar.
