Pinot noir is dé druif waarmee Palliser Estate en de streek Martinborough furore maken. Meer dan de helft van het meeste zuidelijke wijngebied op het Noordereiland is pinot noir. Datzelfde is het geval bij Palliser. Niet voor niets noemen ze de Pinot Noirs hun flagship wines.

De Pencarrow is de instapwijn van het domein.. Hij wordt op vergelijkbare wijze gemaakt als de Estate-serie, maar in een meer toegankelijke, zachte stijl én voor een heel sympathieke prijs.

De Pencarrow Pinot wordt gekenmerkt door een mooie combinatie van frisse elegantie enerzijds en een goede structuur anderzijds. Dit maakt dat de wijn niet alleen heerlijk is om zo te drinken, maar ook prima inzetbaar aan tafel. Drink ‘m de komende drie jaar, bijvoorbeeld in combinatie met kip of paddenstoelen.

Proefnotitie

Licht robijnrood van kleur met een ingetogen aroma-expressie van rood fruit (bosaardbei, cranberry), rozenbottel en salie. Verleidelijk fruitig, sappig en rond van smaak met een goede fraîcheur. Verfijnd, zacht en licht kruidig in de afdronk.

Drinken bij

Fruitige, soepele Pinot Noir die goed matcht met lamsvlees en kruidige, mediterrane gerechten. Licht gekoeld op z’n mooist.

Houdbaarheid

Nu drinken; houdbaar tot ongeveer vier à vijf jaar na de oogst.
