La del Vivo is naar onze mening een van de mooiste Godello's op de markt. Complex, verfijnd, klassiek en haast Bourgogne-achtig van smaak.

De legendarische wijnmaker Raúl Pérez maakt hem in een beperkte oplage (minder dan 5000 flessen per jaar) van wijngaarden in het plaatsje Lomas de Valtuille, in het Noord-Spaanse Bierzo. Het klimaat in dit gebied, met milde temperaturen en voldoende vocht, lijkt sterk op dat van het aangrenzende, koele Galicië, maar is iets droger.

Na de gisting rijpt de Godello ongeveer twaalf maanden op gebruikte eikenhouten vaten van 500 liter en een deel van de oogst wordt zelfs in amfora’s gemaakt. De rijping in gebruikte houten vaten dient voor een mooie, gelijkmatige evolutie van de aroma’s en smaak en is ondergeschikt aan de druif en terroirexpressie.

La del Vivo is een nieuwe generatie Spaanse wijn van hoog niveau en zeer gewild in de Spaanse tophoreca vanwege de gastronomische toepassingen. Geef de wijn voor u 'm gaat drinken wat zuurstof, dan komt 'ie optimaal tot z'n recht.

Proefnotitie

Lichtgele wijn met een complexe geur van amandelbloesem, kamille, limoen, grapefruit en toast. De smaak is vol en sappig met puur citrusfruit en een opwekkende frisheid. Lange, harmonieuze afdronk met rokerig eiken, limoenschil en zilte nuances.

Drinken bij

Schitterende, droge witte wijn met een unieke, zilte signatuur. Grandioos bij alles uit de zee, bijvoorbeeld bij gamba’s, gekookte mosselen, makreel, tonijncarpaccio of jonge, harde kazen.

Houdbaarheid

Op z’n mooist tussen 2 en 10 jaar na oogstdatum.

The 2023 La Vizcaína Las Gundiñas has a more herbaceous nose, from old vines that might have 5% of white grapes. It's a wet year in a wet place, a vineyard that retains very well the water in drier years. It has a different expression that seems to transcend the place and vintage (Raúl Pérez compared it with the 2013), and it's more aromatic. I still think this plot behaves better in drier years...
