Barolo is de fameuze rode wijn van het Noord-Italiaanse Piemonte. Talloze producenten maken hier zeer uiteenlopende stijlen en kwaliteiten wijn. Conterno Fantino behoort tot de moderne wijnmakers die een hoge kwaliteit nastreven die relatief snel op dronk komt. Immers, de traditionele Barolowijnen moeten soms wel tien jaar ouderen voordat ze zacht genoeg zijn om te drinken.

De wijngaard Sori Ginestra is een toplocatie. Regelmatig wordt deze wijn hoog beoordeeld in de internationale wijnpers. De hoogste waardering ooit was 99 op 100 punten door het bekende Amerikaanse blad “Wine Specatator'. Hoewel de Sori Ginestra een modern gemaakte Barolo is, behoeft de wijn zeker vier tot vijf jaar rijping na oogst. Het beste is eigenlijk om de wijn enkele uren voor het uitschenken te decanteren.

Proefnotitie

Donkerrode wijn met in de geur tonen van eikenhoutrijping, licht tabak en rijp zwart fruit. De smaak zet stevig in, is complex en eindigt krachtig en lang.

Drinken bij

Heerlijk bij stevige stoofgerechten of gegrild vlees. Ook erg lekker bij zachte kaas en stokbrood.

Houdbaarheid

Drinken vanaf vier à vijf jaar na de oogst, houdbaar tot vijftien jaar na oogstdatum.
