Piemonte is vooral bekend om de fraaie kwaliteit rode wijnen. Conterno Fantino in Monforte dAlba is gespecialiseerd in Barolo en Barbera en geldt als een van de toppers. Als bijzonderheid maken ze ook een kleine hoeveelheid rood van de dolcettodruif. Deze druif wordt aangeplant op een stuk wijngaard van ongeveer vier hectaren in het Barologebied, nabij Monforte. Het is een wijn die vooral bekoord met zijn fruitige en milde smaak. Om de eigenschappen van de dolcettodruif maximaal te bewaren, rijpt de wijn niet in kleine eikenhouten fusten maar blijft deze tot het moment van botteling in een grote tank.

Proefnotitie

Paarsrode kleur; pittig, fruitig aroma van rood fruit en wat gebrande tonen. De smaak is vol met wat tannine; in de afdronk wat frisse zuren en veel concentratie.

Drinken bij

Fruitige rode wijn met structuur, prima bij kruidige pasta of stoofschotels.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf twee jaar na de oogst; houdbaar tot circa vijf jaar na oogstdatum.
