The 2021 is a seriously impressive Barolo of substance and presence. The balance of fruit, acid and textural resonance makes it incredibly appealing in the early going.

Barolo is de fameuze rode wijn van het Noord-Italiaanse Piemonte. Talloze producenten maken hier zeer uiteenlopende stijlen en kwaliteiten wijn. Conterno Fantino behoort tot de moderne wijnmakers die een hoge kwaliteit nastreven die relatief snel op dronk komt. Immers, de traditionele Barolowijnen moeten soms wel tien jaar ouderen voordat ze zacht genoeg zijn om te drinken.

De wijngaard Vigna del Gris is een toplocatie. Regelmatig wordt deze wijn hoog beoordeeld in de internationale wijnpers. Hoewel de Vigna del Gris een modern gemaakte Barolo is, behoeft de wijn zeker 4 tot 5 jaar rijping na oogst. Het beste is eigenlijk om de wijn enkele uren voor het uitschenken te decanteren.

Proefnotitie

Heldere roodbruine tint. Complex en aromatisch van geur, met kruiden, specerijen en gerijpt rood fruit. De smaak zet verfijnd en vol in. De afdronk is aanhoudend, met rijpe, milde tannine.

Drinken bij

Monumentale rode wijn, heerlijk bij smaakvolle schotels met wild of lamsvlees.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf vijf jaar na oogstdatum; zeker houdbaar tot tien à vijftien jaar na de oogst.
