Broers Dino en Gianni Bertolino stellen zich ten doel een van de beste niet-houtgerijpte Barbera’s van de streek te maken, met maximale terroir- en druifexpressie. De wijngaarden van hun Tenuta Olim Bauda liggen in het warmste deel van Asti. Mede hierdoor worden de druiven perfect rijp.

De druiven van het perceel 'La Villa' worden pas in de eerste helft van oktober met de hand geplukt. Direct na aankomst in de kelder vindt een strenge selectie plaats en vergisten de druiven in roestvrijstalen tanks. Ook de rijping geschiedt in deze tanks.

Het resulteert in een exemplarische Barbera die vele concurrenten het nakijken geeft. Volgens de broers Bertolino is La Villa dé wijn bij traditionele Italiaanse worstsoorten, maar hij past ook uitstekend bij pittige kazen of gegrild vlees. Drink 'm gerust ietsjes koeler, dan smaakt ‘ie nog beter.

Proefnotitie

Volrood van kleur en fruitig en licht kruidig van geur, met nuances van rijpe bramen en kersen. De smaak zet sappig en rond in, met een volle, aromatische en evenwichtige afdronk.

Drinken bij

Prima wijn bij koude schotels, worsten en salades of licht gekruide grillgerechten.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf één à twee jaar na de oogst, gemakkelijk tot vijf jaar houdbaar.
