Chardonnay uit Barolo? Jazeker, en ook nog eens van een indrukwekkende kwaliteit! Conterno Fantino maakt naast hun fabelachtige rode wijnen als bijzonderheid ook een tot 10.000 flessen beperkte hoeveelheid wit van hooggelegen wijngaarden in het dorpje Monforte d’Alba. Deze expressieve, krachtige Chardonnay valt echter onder de gecontroleerde herkomstbenaming DOC Langhe, want Barolo staat alleen rode wijnen toe.

Heerlijk bij risotto met porcini paddenstoelen

Conterno Fantino bewijst dat chardonnay zeer goed gedijt in deze prachtige wijnstreek en de kwaliteit evenaart van top-Bourgognes. De Bastía Chardonnay wordt dan ook gemaakt alsof het een Grand Cru betreft. Zeer lage rendementen in de wijngaard en vergisting en rijping in kleine eikenhouten fusten zorgen voor een groot rijpingspotentieel.

Wat een indrukwekkende witte wijn! Het aroma is verfijnd, de smaak krachtig en intens en de afdronk minutenlang. Een perfecte begeleider van romige vis- en gevogeltegerechten, of risotto met paddenstoelen.

Proefnotitie

Volgele kleur; krachtig en intens aroma van citrusfruit, eikenhout en wat boterachtige nuances. De smaak is vol en rond van inzet en aromatisch en krachtig in de finale.

Drinken bij

Complexe wijn, vooral bij volle, rijke visgerechten of bijvoorbeeld risotto met bospaddenstoelen.

Houdbaarheid

Nu goed op dronk; goed houdbaar tot circa vijf à zes jaar na oogstdatum.
