Bij de familie Seghesio geven ze niet zo om marketing. Veel liever besteden Riccardo en neven en nicht Marco, Michela en Sandro hun tijd aan hun prachtige wijngoed en werkelijk fantastische wijngaard, genaamd La Villa. Deze wijngaard beslaat vier hectaren en bestaat uit diverse percelen. De oudste aanplant stamt uit 1957. De familie Seghesio maakt er fantastische wijnen, die nauwelijks ontdekt en daardoor nog zeer betaalbaar zijn.

Deze Barolo is de prestigewijn van het familiedomein en wordt gemaakt van nebbiolodruiven van de oudste stokken uit de cru La Villa. Eenmaal geoogst volgen een spontane vergisting en enkele dagen schilinweking. Vervolgens rijpt de wijn eerst 24 maanden in kleine en grote vaten van Frans eiken, om daarna nog een jaar op fles te rijpen.

Een ware buitenkans als je het ons vraagt, zeker wanneer je het bewaarpotentieel van deze klassieke Barolo in acht neemt. Het mooist is de La Villa op dronk tussen zo’n vier en vijftien jaar na de oogst. Drink ‘m bij voorkeur bij een stevige, kruidige vleesmaaltijd, of gerijpte harde kazen.

Proefnotitie

Granaatrode wijn met een complexe geur van pruim, zwarte kers, vijg, laurier, kruidnagel en rokerig eiken. Uitgesproken krachtig en intens van smaak met zondoorstoofd fruit, frisse zuren, stevige tannines en een lange afdronk.

Drinken bij

Krachtige rode wijn die het best tot z’n recht komt na beluchting in een karaf. Prachtige combi met Italiaanse klassiekers, zoals lamsbout gevuld met kruiden of risotto met paddenstoelen.

Houdbaarheid

Mooi vanaf 5 jaar; houdbaar tot ten minste 15 jaar na de oogst.
