Red cherries and berries on the nose with hints of truffley mushroom and aromatic bark. Full-to medium-bodied with fine, lightly firm and spice-coated tannins and a long, flavorful finish.

De familie Seghesio bezit ongeveer 10 hectaren natuurlijk bewerkte wijngaarden in de heuvels van Monforte d’Alba. Daarvan zijn vier hectaren beplant met ruim 50 jaar oude nebbiolo-stokken die recht hebben op de herkomstbenaming Barolo. De handgeplukte druiven worden spontaan vergist. De wijn rijpt vervolgens op grote Sloveense vaten en op kleinere fusten van Frans Allier-eiken. Kenmerkend voor de stijl van het huis is de verfijning van de wijn en de soepelheid van de tannine. Hierdoor is deze Barolo zeer geschikt voor in de kelder, maar ook nu al heel verleidelijk – zeker als u ‘m even decanteert.

Proefnotitie

Helderrood van kleur met enige ontwikkeling. Kruidig, licht gerijpt in de geur met zwart fruit als bramen en bessen. De smaak is vol, rond met milde tannine en eindigt met een geurige, aanhoudende afdronk.

Drinken bij

Fraaie evenwichtige wijn, goed te combineren met een mooi stuk gebraden rood vlees.

Houdbaarheid

Op dronk vanaf vier à vijf jaar na de oogst; tot zeker tien jaar goed houdbaar.
