Piemonte

Gewest in het noordoosten van Italië en samen met Toscane het vlaggenschip van de Italiaanse wijn. Piemonte dankt zijn naam aan zijn ligging ‘aan de voet van de bergen’: de Alpen. Het gebied produceert overwegend rode wijnen, van druiven als barbera, dolcetto en nebbiolo. Barbera is daarvan het meest aangeplant, terwijl de naam nebbiolo verbonden is met toppers als Barolo en Barbaresco. Als gebied kent Piemonte een veelheid aan denominazioni (DOC’s en DOCG’s).

Lekker thuiskomen in deze Villa. Eentje met een hoog opgetaste wijnkelder. Tast toe. Heerlijke barbera, uit een jaar dat onverwacht goed uitpakte. Schenk in. Serieus en toch onbezonnen. Sappige, rijpe, maar zure kersen. Bramen ook. Nog wat zuren: als van een fijne aceto balsamico. Gewelde pruimen, wat laurier. Potloodslijpsel voor de liefhebber. Proef nu je toch binnen bent, ook hun gavi (wit) en hun riserva uit 2017.
