The Conterno Fantino 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino reveals medium-rich concentration with primary fruits that touch the darker side of the Nebbiolo spectrum. Notes of blackberry and wild plum are softened by oak, tarry spice and toasted cinnamon. The wine deserves a bigger drinking window, probably taking it up to the 10-year mark. Production is 38,000 bottles.

De nebbiolodruif staat aan de basis van de grote reputatie van wijngebied Piemonte, met Barolo als vaandeldrager. Een van de zeer goede producenten van Barolo is Conterno Fantino. Zij maken een prachtige Langhe Nebbiolo, een wijn voor mensen die niet zo lang willen wachten op het rijpen van een Barolo of juist minder willen betalen voor een wijn met sterke overeenkomsten in geur en smaak. Het is in feite een soort tweede wijn die wordt gemaakt van dezelfde druiven maar op een iets andere wijze, waardoor een 'kleine' Barolo ontstaat. Lichter van smaak en minder tanninerijk, maar verder lijkt deze Nebbiolo in alles op z'n beroemde broer.

Proefnotitie

Volle, rode wijn met in de geur tonen van eikenhoutrijping, licht tabak en rijp zwart fruit. De smaak zet stevig in, is complex en eindigt krachtig en lang.

Drinken bij

Heerlijk bij stevige stoofgerechten of gegrild vlees. Ook erg lekker bij zachte kaas en stokbrood.

Houdbaarheid

Drinken vanaf één à twee jaar na de oogst, houdbaar tot zes jaar na oogstdatum.
